Ähtäri Zoo Camping

Ähtäri Zoo is the oldest organic zoo in Finland, offering joy and insight with animals. Welcome to the wonderful world of nature!

Ähtäri Zoo is especially known for its bears, but there are also many other exciting species from Scandinavia and Asia. The natural environment of the zoo is home to more than 50 different species of animals, including wolverines, lynx and the highly endangered little pandas, snow leopards and coatis.

The zoo's easy-to-follow trail winds through beautiful natural surroundings. Along the way, there are children's play areas and comfortable rest stops where you can stop for a snack and a sausage. There are also cafés along the route, such as the Kaakkolampi summer café and the Farm café, which serve you in summer.

You can see bears with your eyes at the Nature House and buy souvenirs at the Animal Park's own shop.

The Ähtäri Zoo Livestock Farm showcases farm life and animals.

Hotel Mesikämmen is located just a few minutes from the Zoo gates. Ähtäri Zoo Camping offers camping on the beautiful Hankavesi shore, a stone's throw from the entrance to the zoo. The campsite offers cottages and larger, year-round Moose cottages.
