Camping Leutasch isn’t just a destination — it’s a gateway to one of Austria’s most captivating alpine playgrounds. Surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and valleys dotted with traditional villages, you’re never far from outdoor adventure or local charm.
Just around 8 km away lies the beautiful village of Seefeld, the cultural heart of the Leutasch Valley. Seefeld’s car-free centre is a joy to explore on foot, with cafés, boutiques, international restaurants, lively terraces, a casino, and even an ice rink and indoor pool for all-weather fun.
In the warmer months, the region transforms into a hiker’s and cyclist’s paradise. From the campsite you’ll find easy access to mountain biking and cycling routes, scenic trails, and even longer day hikes — while the Karwendel Nature Park (approx. 22 km) rewards adventurers with lush alpine meadows, lakes and rugged peaks.
A highlight for curious explorers is the dramatic Leutascher Geisterklamm, a gorge trail leading to waterfalls and forested pathways just a few kilometres from the campground.
In winter, you’re in one of Europe’s best cross-country skiing destinations. Over 250 km of groomed trails wind through snowy valleys — and one trail even passes directly by the campsite itself. While ski ticket access isn’t included with your stay, you can buy them at reception and be on skis within minutes.
Whether you’re into outdoor sports, nature walks, downhill skiing in nearby resorts, or simply exploring Austrian village culture and cuisine, there’s always something to discover.
Before you arrive, keep in mind that Camping Leutasch is designed for travellers who love nature but appreciate comfort. During peak seasons the campsite can fill up quickly, so booking early is highly recommended — especially if you want pitches with private sanitary facilities or holiday homes.
The campsite’s peaceful setting means that while it’s calm and relaxing, services like the restaurant or pool may have seasonal hours or temporary closures for maintenance (e.g., scheduled pool closures in early November).
If you’re visiting in winter, remember that while the site offers snow guaranteed landscapes, alpine weather can change rapidly — so pack warm gear and waterproof layers for skiing and winter hikes. The cross-country trails start directly from the site, so you’ll be out in the snow right away.
For summer stays, bring good hiking shoes, a bike helmet if you plan to cycle, and maybe binoculars — the wildlife and views are incredible. It’s worth checking whether local attractions like Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens (roughly 33 km) or special events in Seefeld are happening during your visit.
Finally, the site is pet-friendly, but local rules require dogs to be on a leash and cleaning up after them — and the dog shower makes refreshing after muddy mountain walks a breeze.
