Camping La Garenne de Moncourt

Camping La Garenne de Moncourt is a family run four star campsite in Rue, right in the heart of the Baie de Somme. The family has welcomed holidaymakers here for more than 40 years, and the atmosphere is relaxed, green and friendly. The site covers over 10 hectares of open grassy space and is open ten months a year, from 1 February to 30 November. A warden is on site day and night.

You can rent a mobile home with two, three or four bedrooms, including an accessible mobile home with a ramp and an adapted shower room, or stay in one of the gîtes in a former Picardy farmhouse a short walk from the campsite, with full access to everything the campsite offers.

Three fishing ponds inside the campsite are free to use all year, with no permit needed, and hold carp, pike, tench and roach. The water area has a heated covered pool whose roof opens on sunny days, plus an outdoor pool with a water slide, a hot tub and a paddling pool for younger children. Kids have several playgrounds, inflatable games, table tennis and table football, and there are boules courts and a multisport field. In July and August the team runs a full programme of themed evenings, water games, aqua aerobics, zumba, bingo, boules competitions and themed dinners. Bikes, both classic and electric, can be hired at the campsite.

The campsite lies between the beaches of Fort Mahon Plage and Quend Plage and the harbours of Le Crotoy and Saint Valery sur Somme, so the sea is only a few minutes away by car. The Baie de Somme has been a Grand Site de France since 2011 and is famous for its seals, its birdlife and its wide tidal landscapes.

In the Marquenterre dunes you can watch birds from observation hides, and guided nature walks take you out across the bay. You can explore the area on foot, by bike, by horse drawn carriage or even by hot air balloon, and the bay is also a great place for sand yachting, kitesurfing and horse riding. An equestrian centre is about 200 metres from the campsite and offers rides for adults and children.

The historic town of Rue is about 2 km away, with its railway station, supermarkets, pharmacies, a fishing tackle shop and plenty of restaurants serving seafood and regional dishes. A larger 3 hectare fishing lake, about 50 metres from the campsite, is available for a fee.

Rentals are available from 14:00 until 18:00 on arrival day. If you expect to arrive after 18:00, please contact the campsite before 16:00 to receive arrival instructions. Departure is before 10:30. Early arrival or late departure may be possible in low season on request, for a fee.

The campsite is open from 1 February to 30 November. The covered pool is heated from May, and the outdoor pool, slide and paddling pool are open from mid June to September. Entertainment runs in July and August.

Mobile homes come with duvets and pillows. Please bring your own sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and towels.

On arrival a security deposit of 250 euro and a cleaning deposit of 60 euro are asked for, by cheque or card. The cleaning deposit is kept if the accommodation is not left clean.

Pets are welcome for 8 euro per night, except category 1 and 2 dogs. Please bring the vaccination booklet, keep dogs on a lead and pick up after them.

Swim briefs are required in the pools, swim shorts are not allowed. The pools and slide are not supervised.

Minors are only accepted when accompanied by a parent. WiFi is available for a fee.

A local tourist tax of 0.55 euro per adult per night is added to the price.
