CHEMIN DE L'ILLE

66490 Saint Jean Pla De Corts

Description

Camping Les Casteillets is a small, friendly three star campsite in Saint Jean Pla de Corts, in the peaceful Catalan countryside of the Pyrénées Orientales. The family run site has welcomed guests since 1998 and sits between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, with views of the Albères mountains and the Canigou, the sacred mountain of the Catalans. There is no traffic noise here, only birdsong.

The campsite has 54 spacious pitches of about 100 m², sunny or partly shaded and clearly marked, for tents, caravans and motorhomes. One vehicle is included and a 10A electricity hook up is available. A motorhome service area is on site.

There is a wide choice of rentals for every budget, from the Vacanciale and Cabane to the Chalet Confort for couples and the Standard and Confort mobile homes for families. The Premium mobile homes offer up to 40 m² with three bedrooms, and most units have air conditioning.

On hot days you can relax by the heated swimming pool, open from mid April to mid October, with sun loungers and shade sails, while the little ones enjoy the paddling pool. You can also cool off in the river right next to the campsite. There is a bar and restaurant, a small grocery store, a playground and a multisport field. In season the entertainment team runs a varied programme with zumba, aqua aerobics, football and water polo, bouncy castles and kids activities by day, and karaoke, pétanque tournaments, night swimming, theme nights and cabaret in the evening.

Other services include washing machines and dryers, WiFi across the campsite for a fee, an electric vehicle charging station, and loans of ping pong rackets, board games and books at reception. Dogs and cats are welcome free of charge.

Two lakes lie just 2 km from the campsite and can be reached on foot. In summer they offer supervised swimming, a wakepark, a treetop adventure course, pedal boats, inflatable water games and the lakeside restaurant La Guinguette du Lac. A 2 km path around the lake is lovely for a walk or bike ride, with the Canigou in view.

Céret, the town of artists once home to Picasso, is about 4 km away. Visit the Museum of Modern Art, the medieval Devil's Bridge over the Tech and the old town with its fountains and cobbled streets. The Saturday morning market runs all year, and in late May the town celebrates its famous cherries. The Tech cycle path links Céret with the Mediterranean.

The thermal baths of Le Boulou are 5 km away and those of Amélie les Bains around 12 km. The sea is about 30 minutes by car, with Argelès sur Mer 25 km away and Collioure, Port Vendres and Banyuls along the Côte Vermeille. Spain is only 15 minutes away: shop in Le Perthus and La Jonquera, or continue to the Costa Brava, Figueres and Girona. In winter the nearest ski resorts are about an hour and a half away.
