Laborde, 4150 Rte de La Vallée
46700 Montcabrier
Nestled in the heart of the lush Lot valley, Camping Moulin de Laborde is a charming 3-star family campsite set around a picturesque 17th-century watermill in Montcabrier, France. This scenic retreat offers an idyllic mix of nature, comfort, and outdoor adventure, making it the perfect base for campers, caravanners, and motorhome travellers seeking an unforgettable experience in Occitanie.
With 80 spacious, leafy pitches ranging from open grassland to shaded spots beneath mature trees, every visitor finds their ideal place to unwind. Two of these pitches come with luxury rental tents already set up, ready for your arrival. The campsite’s modern sanitary block is kept spotlessly clean and comes with free hot water, accessible facilities for guests with reduced mobility, and baby-friendly areas. You’ll also find washing machines and tumble dryers for longer stays.
At the heart of the site lies a generous swimming pool (about 200 m²) with a gentle slide and paddling pool — perfect for cooling off after a day of exploration. A friendly terrace bar sits in the shaded courtyard of the mill, where you can savour local drinks while soaking up the peaceful ambience. Dining is effortless here: choose from the on-site restaurant, the snack & take-away service for chips and quick bites, or pick up fresh daily bread and essentials from the grocery shop each morning.
Free Wi-Fi across the campsite keeps you connected, and if you’re arriving in a motorhome, chemical toilet emptying and water refill services are included in your stay. Fridges are also available to rent to keep your food fresh throughout your holiday.
Families will love the range of activities on site: a recreation room with table tennis and picnic tables, volleyball and boules courts, a football area, and a children’s playground all ensure hours of fun without leaving the campsite.

Just 1 km from the medieval village of Montcabrier, you can easily reach charming village streets, local bakeries, and shops either on foot or by a short bike ride through forest paths that start right from the campsite. The village’s weekly market, especially vibrant in summer, is a wonderful way to taste local produce and mingle with friendly locals.
The surrounding Lot countryside is practically a natural playground. The campsite sits beside the Thèze river, ideal for riverside walks and nature spotting, while the mighty Lot river — about 8 km away — offers canoeing and stand-up paddle adventures for all ages. Cyclists and hikers will find themselves at the gateway to GR 652 and GR 36 trails, which pass through rolling hills, vineyard slopes, and scenic woodland.
History buffs and explorers will be delighted with nearby sights including the impressive Château de Bonaguil and the hillside bastide towns of Fumel and Puy-l’Évêque — rich with culture, markets, and riverside cafés just a short drive away.
Looking for more thrill? You’re close to rock-climbing spots, horse riding (approx. 15 km), a survival park (~25 km), and tennis courts in the next village, offering activities for every interest.
Opening season: Camping Moulin de Laborde typically welcomes guests from April through end of October, giving you plenty of warm weather to explore and relax.
Please note that pets are not allowed during the peak months of July and August, making this a wonderfully tranquil spot for families and nature lovers.
Food service at the snack bar and restaurant operates on a seasonal schedule with delicious options like burgers, snacks, and special Friday mussels-and-fries evenings (by reservation), so it’s worth checking opening hours before you arrive to make the most of the local culinary atmosphere. Daily fresh bread and pastries can be ordered in advance — a lovely way to start your mornings.
While chemical toilet disposal and water refill are included in your camping rate, the site does not offer grey water disposal — this must be managed with jerrycans instead.
The campground is easy to reach by car, located conveniently off A20 motorway exits and approximately 60 km from major entry points for travellers coming from the north.
And don’t forget: the friendly team accepts Chèques Vacances (holiday vouchers) and can help point you to hidden gems in the region — from wine tours in Cahors vineyards to artisanal markets and historical excursions.
