Camping Port Maubert

Camping Port Maubert is a welcoming 3-star campsite on the Gironde Estuary, located in the heart of Charente-Maritime. Set in a preserved natural environment between marshlands and countryside, this small, family-run campsite offers a peaceful alternative to large coastal resorts while remaining close to major attractions.

The campsite has a human-scale layout with just 59 pitches, shared between spacious camping pitches, mobile homes, and Coco Sweet units. This limited number of accommodations creates a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where guests can truly unwind. The pitches are particularly generous, averaging around 100 m², bordered by carefully maintained poplar trees. Depending on the pitch, you can choose sunny, semi-shaded, or shaded areas for your tent, caravan, or motorhome.

From the end of March to November, the campsite benefits from green grass and stabilized ground, ensuring dry and comfortable conditions even after heavy rain. Most pitches are equipped with a water connection, and all have access to 10-amp European electrical hook-ups (adapter required).

On site, guests can enjoy a swimming pool for adults and children, ideal for cooling off on warm Charente days. The sanitary facilities, located centrally, include washbasins, showers, and separate men’s and women’s toilets, all accessible from three sides. Facilities are also adapted for guests with reduced mobility, including a dedicated accessible cubicle with shower, toilet, and washbasin.

The campsite’s bar and restaurant add to the holiday comfort, serving snacks and meals on site, takeaway, or delivery. Opening hours vary seasonally, with extended service in July and August. Additional leisure options include games, a boules court, and a sailing school just 200 metres away at Port de Maubert.

Camping Port Maubert enjoys a privileged location on the largest estuary in Europe, offering direct contact with local wildlife such as storks, wild swans, and ducks. Nature lovers will appreciate the calm marshland surroundings and the unspoiled landscapes typical of Charente-Maritime.

Just 3 km from the campsite, the Le Moulin du Sap leisure centre is a highlight for families and groups. Open to all, it offers pedal boats, rowboats, mini golf, inflatable games, concerts, snack bars, ice creams, and crêpes — perfect for a full day of fun and relaxation.

For wellness seekers, the Jonzac thermal baths are about 30 minutes away, while the historic cities of Bordeaux and La Rochelle can be reached in approximately one hour. The campsite is also well placed for exploring the Royan region, known for its seaside atmosphere, even though the nearest beaches are 25 km away.

Cyclists will appreciate the campsite’s location on the “Two Seas” cycling route, making it an excellent stop for touring cyclists and cycling groups. Nearby ports, vineyards, and small Charente villages invite slow travel and discovery away from mass tourism.

Please note that swimming is not permitted in the Gironde Estuary, but supervised swimming areas and beaches are accessible within driving distance.

Camping Port Maubert is open from March 1st to November 30th, with reception hours from 8:00–12:00 and 14:00–19:00. Arrival and departure times for pitches are flexible, although departure must be before noon.

The campsite is pet-friendly, but with clear rules: only dogs under 10 kg, with up-to-date vaccination records, are accepted. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, and owners are required to clean up after them.

For safety reasons, only electric barbecues or electric griddles are allowed. One vehicle per pitch is permitted; additional vehicles must use the campsite parking area.

There is no children’s entertainment team, making the campsite particularly suitable for families seeking calm, couples, senior travellers, and nature lovers. Group stays are warmly welcomed, with facilities available for family gatherings, associations, clubs, and cycling groups, including a reception hall for up to 65 people and optional catering services.

With its tranquil setting, family spirit, and proximity to major attractions, Camping Port Maubert is an excellent choice for guests looking to enjoy Charente-Maritime at a slower, more authentic pace.
