Camping Sass Dlacia

Camping Sass Dlacia is a spectacular mountain campsite in the heart of the Dolomites, at Sciarè 11, San Cassiano, 39036 Badia, South Tyrol, Italy. At around 1,680 metres above sea level, this is a destination for travellers who want to wake up surrounded by pine forests, alpine meadows and the dramatic peaks of the Dolomites.

The campsite covers approximately 5 hectares and offers around 320 tourist pitches, providing plenty of choice for campers travelling with a tent, caravan, campervan or motorhome. Its elevated position beside the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park makes Camping Sass Dlacia particularly attractive for outdoor enthusiasts. Rather than having to drive to the start of every adventure, many hiking, cycling, climbing and winter routes begin close to the campsite.

Motorhome and caravan travellers can make use of pitches with electricity connections, while the campsite also provides toilets, showers, Wi-Fi and a dedicated camper service area. The camper service makes it easier to refill fresh water and dispose of wastewater during your stay. Camping equipment, gas cylinders and electrical accessories are also available, helping you travel lighter and making longer stays more convenient.

There is also a choice of accommodation for guests who prefer something more comfortable than a traditional pitch. Options include Sass Dlacia Lodges, Forest Cabins, A-Frame Cabins, Les Üties and private rooms. The Sass Dlacia Lodge is particularly suitable for families or groups, offering generous living space, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, balcony, heating, Wi-Fi and parking. The A-Frame Cabins and Üties provide a simpler and more atmospheric alternative for couples, trekkers and adventurous travellers who want to stay close to nature.

You will not need to leave the campsite every evening to find something to eat. Restaurant Sass Dlacia, Pizzeria Sass Dlacia and Bosch Bar provide convenient options for meals, pizza, drinks and relaxed evenings. Breakfast is also available, while the campsite's shop provides useful everyday provisions and camping essentials.

After a day spent hiking, cycling or skiing, the Natura Wellness Centre provides a peaceful place to unwind. Guests can enjoy the sauna facilities, Turkish bath, relaxation room and outdoor garden, with wellness treatments and massages also available.

One of the greatest advantages of Camping Sass Dlacia is its location. The Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park begins right beside the campsite, putting an extraordinary natural landscape almost on your doorstep. Forests, alpine meadows, dramatic rock formations and high mountain trails provide countless opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, climbing, snowshoeing and ski touring.

You can start with something easy and relaxing. Around 450 metres from the campsite, Ristorante Bar Sarè offers traditional Ladin food, drinks and a sunny panoramic terrace. From here, a meditation trail winds through the forest towards the Sas Dlacia Chapel, taking around 30 minutes and passing eight reflection stations.

There are several other places to eat within easy reach. Capanna Alpina is about 1.2 km away, while the Cocun Cellar Restaurant at Ciasa Salares is around 1.4 km away. For a memorable mountain dining experience, Rifugio Scotoni is approximately 2.8 km away, surrounded by the peaks of Fanes, Lagazuoi and Scotoni.

For shopping and a change of scenery, San Cassiano is approximately 3 km from the campsite. There is also an on-site grocery shop, so basic provisions are available without making the trip into town.

Summer visitors can explore the mountains on foot or by bicycle. Routes lead towards places such as Malga Valparola, Pralongià, Lagazuoi and Rifugio Scotoni, with options ranging from relatively easy walks to demanding mountain excursions.

Winter transforms the area into an outstanding destination for skiing and snowboarding. The campsite's ski bus connects guests with the Armentarola ski lift, providing access to the extensive Dolomiti Superski network without needing to move your car, caravan or motorhome. Cross-country skiing is also available close to the campsite.

The surrounding area is full of iconic Dolomite scenery, with Piz dles Cunturines and Lagazuoi among the notable mountain landmarks nearby. The famous Falzarego and Valparola passes also provide excellent opportunities for sightseeing, photography and mountain drives.

Camping Sass Dlacia is therefore much more than a place to park your motorhome: it is an excellent base for discovering one of Italy's most spectacular mountain regions.

The first thing to remember is that Camping Sass Dlacia is a high-altitude campsite. At approximately 1,680 metres, temperatures can be considerably cooler than in the valleys, and mountain weather can change quickly. Even in summer, bring warm layers, waterproof clothing and suitable footwear if you plan to hike.

The campsite welcomes guests throughout different parts of the year, including the summer and winter seasons. Always check the exact opening dates and availability for your travel dates before booking, particularly if you are planning a trip around the seasonal transition periods.

For rental accommodation, summer check-in is from 15:00 to 22:00, while winter check-in is from 15:00 to 21:00. Pitch arrivals are possible from 10:00 to 22:00 in summer and from 15:00 to 21:00 in winter. During high season, the entrance barrier closes between 13:00 and 15:00 and overnight from 22:00 to 08:00, helping to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.

Check-out is by 10:00, so plan your departure accordingly.

Motorhome and caravan guests should also be aware that electricity is charged separately according to consumption. The camping price includes the use of toilets and showers, Wi-Fi and the ski bus, but electricity, pets, tourist tax and certain additional services are not included.

A tourist tax applies, with children under 14 exempt according to the campsite's current conditions. Pets are welcome subject to the campsite's rules and an additional charge.

The Natura Wellness Centre is reserved for guests aged 14 and over and requires advance reservation. It is a wonderful option after a long day outdoors, but it should be booked ahead rather than assumed to be available on arrival.

If you plan to spend a night away from the campsite, such as staying in a mountain hut, tell reception when you check in. Guests must also register all members of their party and declare any pets.

For motorhome travellers, the dedicated camper service area is an especially useful facility, allowing fresh-water refilling and wastewater disposal without leaving the property.

Most importantly, come prepared to spend time outdoors. Camping Sass Dlacia is about experiencing the Dolomites rather than simply using the campsite as a place to sleep.
