7670-202 Ourique
Tucked away in the rolling hills of the Alentejo region, Camping Serro da Bica is a small, terraced campsite where time slows down and nature takes the lead. Located near Ourique and bordered by the gentle river Mira, this peaceful hideaway invites you to rediscover quiet moments, starry nights, and the freedom of open space.
Set among cork oaks and olive trees, the campsite offers around twenty spacious pitches for tents, caravans, and motorhomes. Each pitch is large and private, surrounded by greenery and soft shade, with wide views over the golden countryside. You’ll find comfort without losing the connection to nature that makes camping here so special.
Facilities are clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The sanitary block includes six toilets, four showers, and six washbasins. There’s also a washing-up area, plus a washing machine and dryer for longer stays. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, though many guests soon prefer to disconnect and let nature set the rhythm.
A walk around the campsite takes about 45 minutes (less than two kilometres), offering glimpses of wildflowers, olive groves, and endless horizons. Evenings cool pleasantly, and at night the sky reveals an ocean of stars — no light pollution, no noise, just pure serenity.
Run with care and warmth by Menno and Miranda van Dijk, this campsite reflects their passion for the simple beauty of outdoor living. Whether you arrive with a motorhome, caravan, or tent, Camping Serro da Bica welcomes you with a feeling of freedom, space, and belonging.

Camping Serro da Bica is the perfect base to explore the unspoiled beauty of southern Portugal. The river Mira flows right beside the campsite — ideal for gentle walks, refreshing dips, or quiet afternoons spent reading in the shade.
Nearby, the small village of Fernão Vaz and the market town of Ourique offer a taste of authentic Alentejo life, with cosy cafés, local restaurants, and small shops. Try the region’s famous black-pig dishes, sip a glass of Alentejo wine, and chat with the friendly locals who make this region so welcoming.
Nature lovers will find countless hiking and mountain-biking trails, winding through oak forests and rolling hills. The Barragem de Santa Clara reservoir is close by — a peaceful place for fishing, birdwatching, or simply enjoying a picnic with panoramic views.
For a day trip, the Algarve coast is within easy reach: Albufeira lies less than 50 minutes away, while the wild Costa Vicentina on the west coast is about an hour’s drive. You can spend a morning exploring coastal cliffs and sandy beaches, then return to your quiet pitch under the olive trees for sunset.
Every day here brings a new kind of adventure — whether it’s a walk through fragrant fields, a bike ride to a hidden village, or an evening of stargazing with nothing but the sound of the river nearby.
Because Camping Serro da Bica is small and intimate, early booking is recommended, especially in the cooler months when the Alentejo climate is at its best. The site is open from 1 September 2025 to 30 June 2026, closing during the hottest part of summer.
Each terraced pitch is unique, with a mix of sun and shade. Some may have a gentle slope due to the natural terrain — if you prefer a very level or shaded spot, it’s best to mention this when booking.
The atmosphere here is peaceful and personal, with no loud entertainment or nightlife. It’s a place for travellers who value silence, stars, and slow mornings. Pets are welcome, provided they are kept on a leash.
There’s no large supermarket on-site, but you’ll find everything you need in Ourique, about ten kilometres away. Local markets and small shops offer fresh bread, fruit, and regional products — perfect for a relaxed picnic or campfire dinner.
Access is straightforward via the IC1, followed by scenic country roads that lead you into the calm heart of the Alentejo. The location makes an excellent stopover for motorhome travellers exploring southern Portugal or heading toward the Algarve.
At night, the campsite’s clear, dark skies invite stargazing unlike anywhere else. Many guests describe their stay as “pure peace” — a rare chance to pause, breathe, and reconnect with nature.
