Description

Nestled between meadows, forest and the shimmering waters of Kirnbergsee, Campingplatz Kirnbergsee offers a peaceful retreat deep in the heart of the Black Forest — far from noise and stress, immersed in healing forest air. The campsite spans approximately 5 hectares.

For tent-campers, there is a charming lakeshore meadow stretching along the water: a two-level tent meadow covering roughly 1,500 m², extended in 2021 so that you can now pitch your tent as close as 10 meters from the lake — just steps from the water’s edge.

Facilities at the site are designed for comfort and convenience. Modern sanitary buildings provide hot-water showers — included in the pitch fee, with no need for coins or tokens. For families: a newly revamped children’s playground sits right next to the restaurant — with slides, a sandbox/“construction sand site,” seesaw, digger toys, and more — perfect for little adventurers while parents relax nearby.

Campingplatz Kirnbergsee also offers generous motorhome and caravan pitches: spacious grassy plots of 80–110 m² for holiday campers, and larger 70–125 m² plots for caravans or motorhomes, many with convenient access to electricity boxes or reachable via an extension cable. There are water taps distributed across the campsite, and chemical-toilet cassette disposal and grey-water disposal points for motorhomes.

Other useful amenities include: a small on-site restaurant / pub serving traditional German food (and afternoon coffee & cake), a facility for washing dishes, laundry area with washing machines and tumble dryer, gas bottle supply, and — for connectivity — WiFi in the area around the reception and restaurant.

Pets are welcome — dogs (except prohibited breeds) are allowed, but must be kept on a leash, and not enter sanitary buildings or the playground.

Whether you're pitching a tent lakeside, travelling with a caravan or motorhome, or bringing the family — the campsite blends natural tranquility with practical comforts to make your stay carefree and enjoyable.

Nearby

Set on the edge of the lake and surrounded by forested hills, Campingplatz Kirnbergsee is a fantastic base for a variety of outdoor adventures. Kirnbergsee itself — a reservoir lake created by the damming of the Brändbach — is known as the warmest bathing lake in the southern Black Forest, making it especially inviting for swimming. The lake shore and the campsite’s gravel-to-lawn beach zone (approx. 60 m of shore + 15 m sunbathing lawn) make it easy to dip in or lounge by the water.

Around the lake there is a roughly 2.5 km walking/hiking loop — ideal for a relaxed stroll or a morning jog with beautiful scenery and lake views. For those who prefer more challenge, the surrounding forest and hills offer numerous hiking and cycling paths, letting you explore the natural beauty of the Black Forest.

If you enjoy water activities beyond swimming, Kirnbergsee also allows for angling and — depending on conditions — possibly windsurfing or small-craft use, thanks to its status as a lake with suitable water access.

For those interested in broader exploration, Campingplatz Kirnbergsee can serve as a base for visiting some of the Black Forest’s well-known destinations: charming towns and villages, scenic forest landscapes, and — depending on season — winter sports. Cross-country ski trails start about 1 km away; a ski lift is reachable within ~5.4 km.

And if you’d like a bit of culture or town-life: the nearest village center is Unterbränd, while the nearest larger town is Bräunlingen — so with a short drive, you can access local shops, restaurants and amenities.

From tranquil swims and forest hikes to cycling trips and easy access to town comforts — the location offers a wonderfully flexible mix of nature and convenience.
