La Risacca Family Collection sits within the coastal town of Porto Sant'Elpidio, a welcoming seaside destination on the central Adriatic that strikes a perfect balance between lively beach resort and authentic Italian town life. The town's long seafront promenade, Lungomare Europa, stretches for several kilometres and is ideal for walking, jogging, and cycling, with a well-maintained coastal cycle path connecting Porto Sant'Elpidio to the neighbouring resort of Porto San Giorgio to the south. The beach itself is a broad, gently shelving stretch of fine sand and gravel with calm, shallow waters well suited to families, lined with beach clubs, bars, and dining options throughout the summer season. The town centre offers a charming historic quarter with notable landmarks including the 11th-century Church of Maria Santissima Annunziata, the 16th-century Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Corva, and the picturesque Villa Barucchello botanical gardens, whose ancient tree collection is protected as a heritage site. Porto Sant'Elpidio also has a lively cultural calendar, hosting the internationally acclaimed Teatro delle Api children's theatre festival and the Theatres of the World festival each July, as well as seasonal seafood festivals celebrating the town's strong fishing tradition. Restaurants and cafés along the seafront and in the town centre serve excellent local cuisine, with the Marche's renowned seafood, cured meats, and Verdicchio wines readily available. The town has its own train station on the Adriatic line with regular regional connections, and is located just off the A14 motorway, making it easily accessible by both public transport and car.
The Marche region surrounding La Risacca Family Collection is one of Italy's most rewarding and least-crowded destinations, offering an extraordinary combination of Adriatic coastline, rolling hill towns, national parks, and deep cultural heritage within easy reach of the village. Just 10 kilometres to the north lies Civitanova Marche, a bustling coastal city divided between its lively modern seafront and the beautifully preserved medieval hilltop quarter of Civitanova Alta, home to an historic theatre and panoramic views across the Adriatic. Further north, the elegant port city of Ancona — gateway to the Greek islands by ferry — is reachable in under an hour, while to the south the charming town of Porto San Giorgio and the provincial capital of Fermo, perched dramatically on a hilltop with a magnificent cathedral and ancient Roman cisterns, are both worth a visit. Inland, the Marche hills unfold into a landscape of vineyards, olive groves, and walled medieval villages, with Recanati — birthplace of the poet Giacomo Leopardi — and the Renaissance hill town of Macerata among the most rewarding day trips. Nature lovers will find much to explore, with the Sibillini Mountains National Park offering spectacular hiking, cycling, and wildlife-watching less than two hours from the coast, while the coastal cycle paths of the southern Marche have been significantly extended in recent years, providing scenic routes suitable for all abilities. The region's food and wine culture is outstanding, with local specialities including brodetto fish stew, vincisgrassi lasagne, pecorino cheese, and the crisp white Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, best sampled at the many local sagre (food festivals) held throughout the summer months across the surrounding towns and villages.
