Freizeitpark Klaukenhof is a welcoming, family-friendly campsite conveniently located by the “Dattelner Meer” canal junction in North Rhine-Westphalia — a peaceful escape at the northeastern edge of the Ruhr region. The park spans a generous area of about 5 hectares and offers around 200 total pitches, including long-term/yearly pitches, touring pitches for caravans or motorhomes, a tent meadow, as well as several holiday apartments for guests who prefer fixed accommodations.

For motorhomes and caravans, comfortable pitches are available with electric hook-up and water supply nearby, and waste-water / chemical-toilet disposal is provided — ideal for both short stays and longer-term camping. For those who bring tents, there’s a wide tent meadow with access to shared sanitary facilities.

Families with children will appreciate the campsite’s spacious playground, ample green meadows, and a petting zoo — little ones can meet goats, donkeys and other small animals, making Klaukenhof especially child-friendly. There’s also a beer-garden & restaurant / land-gasthaus with grill-hut on site — under shady trees, a cozy place to enjoy a meal or evening drink after a day outdoors.

Sanitary facilities are described as “comfortable camping standard”: accessible toilets and showers, washing and drying rooms, and a large dishwashing / wash area with hot-water supply. For a historic outing by bike, the Schleusenpark Waltrop (a canal lock park / ship-lift) is reachable in about 30 minutes by bike — a fun adventure for industrial-heritage lovers and families alike.

The region offers a mix of nature and culture: from peaceful canal paths and nature reserves to the historic waterways of the Ruhr region — giving you flexibility whether you seek calm, nature, or a bit of urban/industrial history.

For convenience, basic supplies and local shops are reachable within cycling distance or a short drive, and the campsite’s location near major roads makes it a comfortable base if you want to explore nearby towns or cities like Dortmund or Münster on day trips.
