Gullmarsbadens Camping

Gullmarsbadens Camping has existed since the 1950s – and it was recently confirmed that we may continue to operate the campsite, after an extended period of uncertainty regarding the shoreline protection regulations. We are now breathing life into something new, without losing what has always been here.

We are a small and personal campsite right by the sea, within walking distance of Lysekil. Here you will find a limited number of highly sought-after pitches, an original building from the 1950s–60s, and an atmosphere that many describe as a blend of “Macken” and “Sune’s Summer”. It is authentic, unpretentious – and for real.

At Midsummer our relaunch began with happy guests, dogs swimming at sunset, freshly brewed coffee and homemade croissants. We are now working on new signage, better information and an entirely new website – but the genuine character, that is something we will never build away.

Everyone is welcome, both people and dogs!

Please bear with us as certain parts of the campsite are currently being refurbished. We are improving step by step to make your stay even better – but we are doing so with a gentle hand, so that the distinctive Gullmarsbaden atmosphere will always remain.

Welcome to Gullmarsbadens Camping in Lysekil!🌞

In the vicinity of the campsite you will find both a bathing beach, forest and a footpath to Lysekil. Central Lysekil is located approximately 2 km away. The area offers nature experiences, rocky outcrops, hiking trails and excursion destinations such as Havets Hus, Norra Grundsund, Brodalen and Stångehuvud. Lysekil, also called “The City by the Sea”, is located at the outermost point of the beautiful Bohuslän west coast, where the Gullmar Fjord opens out towards the sea. The beautiful archipelago landscape together with a very active urban life and outdoor recreation makes this a very popular destination.

In 2019 Lysekil was named Sweden’s most motorhome‑friendly municipality. This is of course due to the beautiful surroundings and the fact that there are numerous, both private and municipal, motorhome pitches and campsites in the area. Centrally located, close to the sea and beautifully situated in some of nature’s most delightful settings.

Lysekil originates from an old fishing community, but today offers activities and experiences for the whole family. Here you will find everything from small, charming and well-preserved neighbourhoods from bygone times, to a cold-water bathhouse and even an aquarium.

When you have had your fill of strolling among all the cafés and restaurants offering the delicacies of the sea, we recommend a visit to the Aquarium: Havets Hus. In this well-maintained and attractive tunnel aquarium you can see spiny dogfish, conger eels, starfish and much more. If you are even more adventurous, you will also find activities such as climbing, diving and fishing trips.

When evening falls, you can rent a sea kayak and watch the sunset in harmony with the salt-sprayed atmosphere while enjoying the city skyline.

When you feel you have seen enough of Lysekil, you can from here also reach several charming places. A hot tip is the ferry that takes you across the Gullmar Fjord and finally leads to the island of Skaftö. Here you will find small picturesque communities such as Fiskebäckskil and Grundsund.

Other popular excursion destinations not to be missed during your stay are the rock carvings located just outside Brastad, the beautiful Härnäset peninsula where the Bro Fjord and Åby Fjord meet, Röe Gård situated in Brodalen, as well as the climbing-friendly cliffs in Träleberg and Lyse.

Do not miss the opportunity to support and visit the local farm shops that can be found in the surroundings around Lysekil and Gullmarsbadens campsite.

The campsite is open during the summer and staffed with reception personnel every day. Guests check in via “SELF SERVICE CHECK-IN” and, as far as possible, choose their own pitch, but we are available for assistance and questions on site or by telephone outside opening hours.

Improvements and upgrades are currently underway in the area and in everything concerning our beloved campsite. We are marking out pitches, clarifying information, updating signs, reviewing services and have a new website with more information:

Cleaning is carried out daily. It is simple, close to nature and always welcoming.

The entire campsite and the beach are dog-friendly, and we welcome both two-legged and four-legged guests. There is ample space here for walks, swimming and relaxation together with your dog.
