Camping pitch
Kukkolaforsen 184
953 91 Haparanda
Kukkolaforsen Turist & Konferens is beautifully situated by the rushing Torne River in the Torne Valley. Here you will find a modern hotel, cottage apartments, cosy little cottages and over 80 camping pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents. The camping pitches are between 80-100 square metres depending on where you choose to pitch.
There is also an exclusive opportunity to book a camping pitch that has its own sauna and barbecue hut.
The service building on the site has access to toilets, showers and saunas. Of course, there is also a kitchen with cooking and washing-up facilities. All this is of course included during your stay.
Kukkolaforsen Tourist & Conference offers lots of unique activities. Here you can try rafting, sauna bathing in Sweden's only sauna village, snowmobile safari, whitefish harvesting. The authentic environment with halibut huts, fishing museum, fishing huts and water-powered mills around the area is a really cool experience. Whitefish harvesting is carried out according to ancient methods and is also worth a try.
The on-site restaurant has a fantastic view of the rapids and neighbouring Finland. It offers food and experiences to suit all occasions. Everything is then prepared so that the Tornedalian flavours come into their own. Of course, the restaurant has full rights. The restaurant is very popular and gets booked up quickly during the high season. We therefore recommend you to be out in good time when you book. This applies to both lunch and dinner.
In the area around Kukkolaforsen cultural village there are lots of places to visit. A sawmill, an old miller's house and two water-powered mills are just some of the different buildings you can visit in its natural environment. During the summers, the old machines start up so you can see for yourself what it was like in the past. Another thing that is very popular to visit is the fishing museum where you can learn about the fishing culture and all the species of the Torne River.
In the immediate area you will find nice jogging trails and hiking trails that in winter turn into lovely ski trails. As if that wasn't enough, there is also a World Heritage Site here. Between 1816 and 1855, Wilhelm von Struve took measurements to show that the latitudes are longer in Scandinavia than at the equator. With this discovery, Struve was able to prove that the Earth is not spherical but oval. The World Heritage Site is about 7 kilometres from the site.
Other attractions worth visiting are Elmer's farm, Karungi village, Taavo farm, Tervajänkke, Karsikojärvi bathing area, Pitkäjärvi bird tower, Saivara Stone Age village, Leipijärvi bathing area and Myllyjärvi barbecue area.
Haparanda town is also a car journey away and of course something you should not miss. Haparanda is also Sweden's easternmost urban centre. The city is located right next to the national border with our dear neighbour Finland and borders directly on the Finnish city of Tornio, also a city that offers lots of exciting opportunities.
Kukkolaforsen Tourist & Conference Centre is open all year round. Full service is from the beginning of June to the end of August. During the high season, the reception is also open from morning to evening. The facility is adapted for the disabled. Dogs are welcome. Access to Wi-Fi is available.
There are also good conference facilities here. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the centre directly.
We wish you a warm welcome to Kukkolaforsen Turist & Konferens!
