Description

La Ferme du Caroire is a family-run farm nestled in the heart of the fertile Berry countryside — in the region often called “the land of a thousand ponds,” within the protected landscape of the Parc naturel régional de la Brenne. The farm combines traditional livestock husbandry (goats and cows) with welcoming accommodation and genuine rural charm. Guests are invited not only to stay, but to taste and take home farm-made products, crafted with personal care by the hosts.

Accommodation at the farm includes yurts, tent pitches, and motorhome / caravan / van / tiny-house pitches — giving flexibility to travellers of various styles. Pitches are laid out on stabilized, shaded ground, surrounded by natural greenery, for a calm and authentic rural camping experience. Motorhome or campervan parking is possible; tent-campers are also welcome.

During your stay, you can enjoy a simple but warm welcome: the hosts personally show you to your pitch and give access to the farm shop. This friendly, hands-on hospitality embodies the rustic, rural spirit of the place. For campers without their own gear, the hosts even offer the possibility to rent camping equipment via a partner (through Decathlon “delivery to campsite”) — a rare convenience for a rural farm stay.

Pets (e.g. dogs) are permitted — just inform the hosts on arrival and keep them on a leash, ensuring safety for all animals and guests.

La Ferme du Caroire is more than a campsite — it’s a working farm with heart, offering flexible, nature-immersed accommodation, farm-fresh produce, and a quiet rural atmosphere for campers, families, van-life travellers, and lovers of slow, authentic getaways.

La Ferme du Caroire sits in one of the most tranquil and nature-rich corners of central France. Being in the heart of the Parc naturel régional de la Brenne, the farm gives direct access to the region’s abundant ponds, wetlands and wildlife habitat. Guests can expect peaceful walks, bird-watching, exploration of small lakes and ponds scattered across the Brenne — a paradise for nature lovers.

Nearby villages such as Azay-le-Ferron (the farm’s postal community) offer local shops, basic services, and small-town charm. Traditional French restaurants or cafés can be found within a short drive or cycle ride, giving you a taste of local cuisine beyond the farm’s own offerings.

For those seeking a bit of cultural or historical sightseeing, the wider Berry region — with its rural heritage, ancient churches, countryside roads, and gentle villages — offers a relaxed opportunity to explore “real France.” The tranquillity and unspoiled nature around the farm make it a good base for a slow holiday, far from noise, crowds, or tourist rush.

Good to know

  • Check-in & Arrival Time: Pitches are available for check-in between 16:00 and 19:00. Hosts request that you message or email them ahead to confirm your arrival time. If you arrive after 19:00 and no pitches are available — accommodation cannot be guaranteed.
  • Pets: Dogs and other pets are welcome, but must be declared on arrival and kept on a leash. This helps ensure safety and comfort for farm animals and other guests.
  • Facilities & Comfort: As a rural farm stay, expect simple but comfortable amenities. The emphasis is on nature, calm, and authenticity rather than luxury. Guests using motorhomes/ caravans will appreciate the stabilized pitches and shaded environment, but should be self-sufficient (water availability likely limited — confirm with hosts), No electricity.
  • Booking & Equipment: If you don’t own camping gear — great news: you can rent equipment online (via a partner) and have it delivered to the farm. This makes the stay accessible even for spontaneous or minimalist campers.
  • Farm Shop & Local Produce: Part of the farm’s charm is its identity as a working goat- and cow-farm producing local specialties. Guests can purchase fresh produce during their stay — a nice touch for those who enjoy farm-to-table food and regional culinary traditions.
  • Season & Availability: The farm is open all year but close every Christmas. Please check the availability.
