Welcome to Camping Lac Murighiol, a tranquil campsite nestled on the banks of a canal that flows directly into Lake Murighiol, in the heart of Romania’s stunning Danube Delta. Located just 36 kilometers from Tulcea, this eco-friendly and pet-welcoming campsite offers a unique opportunity to experience the unspoiled beauty of nature, rich wildlife, and the authentic charm of the deltaic landscape.
Camping Lac Murighiol features 30 spacious pitches, both shaded and semi-shaded, suitable for tents, caravans, and campervans. The site is dog-friendly all year round, as long as your furry friend is kept on a lead. The serene setting is ideal for solo travelers, couples, and families alike looking to unwind and connect with nature.
The facilities on-site include modern sanitary blocks, hot showers, toilets, washing machines, and electricity hook-ups. A communal area is available for guests to relax, share meals, and enjoy evenings by the canal. Wi-Fi coverage extends across most of the campsite, allowing you to stay connected while immersed in the peaceful atmosphere.
Guests are welcome to enjoy a coffee or tea by the water while listening to the birdsong or watch the local wildlife, such as turtles, frogs, muskrats, and even water snakes gliding silently through the canal. As night falls, the magical ambiance continues with the distant howls of jackals, making each evening a memorable experience.
The campsite also reflects the heritage of the old Ukrainian villages that once dotted the delta. Conversations with the welcoming hosts often turn into lessons in local history, folklore, and birdwatching — turning your holiday into a truly cultural and enriching journey.

The Danube Delta is one of Europe’s last great wildernesses, and Camping Lac Murighiol is your perfect base to explore it. Just steps from the canal, you can book boat tours directly from the campsite to explore the vast network of lakes and waterways teeming with birdlife — ideal for photographers, ornithologists, and nature lovers.
The village of Murighiol is just a short walk away, where you’ll find small local shops, a couple of traditional restaurants, and opportunities to engage with local fishermen or learn about regional customs. The nearby Lacul Murighiol and surrounding channels are perfect for canoeing, fishing, or sunset boat rides.
Within a short drive (about 40 minutes), you can reach Tulcea, the gateway to the Danube Delta, with its Aquarium, Danube Delta Museum, and lively harbor promenade. For those interested in archaeology, the Halmyris Roman fortress ruins are located only a few kilometers from the campsite.
Nature trails and birdwatching hotspots abound in the area, especially during spring and autumn migrations. With over 300 bird species recorded here, including pelicans, herons, and eagles, the region is a paradise for birders and nature enthusiasts.
Before your arrival at Camping Lac Murighiol, it’s a good idea to pre-book your pitch or accommodation, especially in high season. The campsite is well-maintained but remains a peaceful and budget-friendly alternative to the busier tourist spots.
Although you’ll find small shops and restaurants in Murighiol, it's recommended to stock up on essentials in Tulcea if you're arriving from that direction, especially if you're camping long-term. The onsite facilities provide all the basics: power access, hot water, laundry service, and even Wi-Fi coverage on 80–100% of the site. However, there’s no on-site restaurant or café, so plan to self-cater or enjoy local dining in the village.
Dogs are welcome at all times as long as they are kept on a leash, and this rule helps maintain the calm and safety of the site — especially considering the rich wildlife in the area.
Evenings can get cool near the water, so bring warm clothing, mosquito repellent, and perhaps binoculars for wildlife viewing. The hosts are known for their warmth and hospitality, and they are happy to help arrange tours, share local tips, or chat about the delta’s unique history.
Whether you’re here to unwind by the water, explore the delta by boat, or soak up the culture and nature of the region, Camping Lac Murighiol promises a relaxing and memorable stay.
