Good to know

A stay at Møsstrond Turisthytte requires a bit of planning, but that’s what makes the experience so special. Since the cabin is located on an island, all guests must travel there by boat, canoe, kayak or arrange transportation. This means you should pack smart and bring what you need to be self-sufficient for a few days. Your hosts can provide practical information about transportation and arrival, and it’s a good idea to arrange in advance.

Once you arrive, you will find all the necessary facilities: kitchen, laundry, sanitary facilities and common areas. However, it is important to be prepared for the fact that you are in the mountain nature, so pack clothes for changing weather, good shoes for hiking and equipment for activities such as kayaking or fishing.

There are no shops or restaurants on the island, so groceries and other necessities should be purchased in advance in Rauland or other nearby locations. This way you can enjoy an uninterrupted stay in the silence, without having to leave the island.

Families, couples and groups will all find their place at Møsstrond Turisthytte. For children, the island is a safe and exciting playground in nature, while adults can enjoy both socializing and the tranquility of the mountains. Remember to book well in advance, especially during the summer months, as the tent sites are popular with adventurers seeking a true Norwegian mountain experience.
