Description

Purple Eye Estate Camp & Winery is a peaceful, small-scale campsite on a family-run wine estate in the rural village of Bandici, just 20 minutes’ drive from Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital. Set among vineyards, fruit trees, and rolling countryside, this intimate campsite offers a rare combination of authentic rural life, wine culture, and outdoor adventure.

The campsite forms part of an active wine estate, where guests are welcomed as part of the family rather than just visitors. The tree-shaded camping pitches are spread across a compact, well-kept area, creating a calm and uncrowded atmosphere ideal for tents, campervans, and small motorhomes. Just a short walk away, guests can reach Matica Creek and Purple Eye Lake, perfect for cooling off or enjoying the surrounding nature.

On site, guests have access to hot unisex showers, clean toilet facilities, and an outdoor kitchen equipped with cooking utensils, making self-catering easy. There is also a large outdoor relaxation area with space for children to play and families to unwind. Activities such as table tennis, football, and volleyball are available, adding to the relaxed, family-friendly feel.

One of the estate’s highlights is its wine and rakija tastings, hosted by the owners using products from their own vineyard. Guests can also sample organic food from the estate’s gardens and farm. A meal delivery service is available for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (ordered in advance and for an additional fee), and there are local restaurants within walking distance.

For active travellers, the campsite offers bike rental, canoe hire, and can arrange horse riding or hiking directly from the site. Whether you’re passing through Montenegro or staying longer, Purple Eye Estate offers a deeply authentic countryside camping experience.

Purple Eye Estate is perfectly positioned for exploring central Montenegro. The campsite is located just 20 minutes from Podgorica, where visitors can discover striking Soviet-era architecture, visit the Contemporary Art Museum, stroll through Njegošev Park, and enjoy cafés, shops, and local markets along Vučedolska Street.

One of Montenegro’s most iconic landmarks, the Ostrog Orthodox Monastery, is approximately 45 minutes away by car. Built into a vertical cliff face, this 16th-century monastery offers breathtaking views over the Bjelopavlići Plain and is one of the country’s most important pilgrimage sites.

Nature lovers will appreciate the proximity to Lake Skadar National Park, around 40 minutes’ drive from the campsite. The lake is famous for its rich wildlife, including Dalmatian pelicans, egrets, and pygmy cormorants, as well as scenic kayaking routes and hiking trails leading to abandoned monasteries and historic fortresses.

The Adriatic coast and its beaches are reachable as a day trip, while the Dinaric Alps lie to the north for guests heading toward mountain adventures. Locally, guests can enjoy walking trails, cycling routes, canoeing on nearby lakes, and peaceful countryside exploration directly from the campsite.
