Quinta Lusco-Fusco

Quinta Lusco-Fusco is a 27-hectare cork oak farm (montado) in Alcochete, just 30 minutes from Lisbon. It's a family-run retreat, ideal for travelers who want to slow down and reconnect with nature. Unlike large-scale campsites, it offers pitches scattered beneath the cork oaks, where guests fall asleep to birdsong and wake up to the sight of farm animals (chickens, ducks, peacocks, geese).

The farm welcomes small campervans, vans, rooftop tents, motorbikes, bicycles, and backpackers with tents — though its rural terrain isn't suitable for large caravans. Facilities are simple but comfortable: clean bathrooms, hot water showers, a covered outdoor kitchen with a gas stove, fridge, sink, dining table, coffee machine, and basic dishes and cutlery, plus an indoor seating area to relax or share stories with fellow travelers. Wi-Fi, phone and laptop charging, a fire pit for nights under the stars, and on-site parking round out the essentials. It's an ideal setting for families, with plenty of space for children to play and get close to the farm animals.

The village of Alcochete is just 15 minutes away, with historic streets, traditional markets, and riverside cafés along the Tagus. Nature lovers shouldn't miss the Salinas do Samouco, one of Portugal's most important wetlands and a refuge for flamingos, storks, and migratory birds, while the region's beaches are perfect for a swim or a relaxed afternoon by the sea. A little further south, Arrábida Natural Park offers spectacular cliffs and beaches with crystal-clear waters, along with the chance to try Moscatel de Setúbal or a good choco frito. And when city energy calls, Lisbon — with neighborhoods like Alfama and Bairro Alto, museums, and restaurants — is just half an hour away.
