Camping Sälsten is a beautifully located campsite on the north side of Härnön, just 2 km from the centre of Härnösand in northern Sweden. Set directly by the water with spectacular sea views and easy access to nature, it’s a perfect base for travellers seeking a relaxed coastal camping experience in the Höga Kusten (High Coast) region.
The campsite offers pitches for motorhomes, caravans, and tents, with electricity as additional option
Pitches are generous in size (80–100 m²) and often bordered by grass and natural surroundings, giving you space for your tent, caravan, or campervan while still feeling close to the sea. The terrain combines grass and gravel surfaces, and many pitches are suitable for motorhomes up to 10 m in length.
On-site facilities are well-equipped to make your stay comfortable. The service buildings include toilets, hot showers, a kitchen area with stove, oven, and microwave, dishwashing stations, and latrines — all designed for practical, easy living while camping. You’ll also find waste water discharge, chemical toilet discharge, water taps, electricity, Wi-Fi, trash bins, and a kiosk with essentials. There’s a playground for children.
Dogs are allowed to stay with you, making this a pet-friendly camping option for families and adventurous couples.
The season runs from early May to the end of september, giving you plenty of time in the warmer months to enjoy outdoor living, sea breezes, and long summer evenings by the water.

One of the strongest draws of Camping Sälsten is its prime location by the sea. The scenic area of Sälsten is known for its beautiful coastal landscape, sandy and grassy sea baths, and historic boathouses. The Sälsten sea baths are within walking distance, featuring both grassy picnic areas and sandy beach sections, perfect for swimming, relaxation, or sunset picnics above the water.
The shoreline stretches eastward to an old fishing village with its charming boathouses — part of the County Museum’s collection, giving a unique cultural experience right by the coast.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do beyond the campsite. The Härnöleden hiking trail passes through Sälsten, offering scenic walks along forests, beaches, and hillsides, with options for shorter or longer explorations. Cycling routes and gravel paths around Härnön island also invite you to explore on two wheels or on foot.
Härnösand town centre, only a short bike ride or drive away, features restaurants, cafés, shops, and cultural sites, including local museums and seasonal events. Whether you’re interested in ocean swimming, beach picnics, nature trails, or coastal culture, the area around Camping Sälsten offers scenic and accessible experiences for all ages.

Season & Opening Dates: The campsite is officially open from early may to end of september, though winter pitches with limited services are available by prior arrangement.
Facilities: On-site services include a well-stocked kiosk with essentials. The kitchen facilities with stove, oven, and microwave are especially useful for campers who prefer to prepare their own meals. Wi-Fi is available, though connectivity can vary in rural and coastal settings.
