Sandviken Strandby is located on the eastern side of Gotland. Perhaps Sweden's most exotic vacation spot. For this reason, a vacation at Sandviken Strandby naturally invites you to a vacation full of options. Why not rent a bike and explore Östergarnslandet via the inviting bike paths along the coast. There are also a couple of slightly different competitions organized on Sandviken beach every summer.

A sand sculpture competition takes place here every year, and a little further away in Sysne you will also find an annual kite flying competition where you can build your own kite. In addition to the kite competition, Sysne also offers an incredibly stunning cold coastal landscape with a perfect location for fishing. The local fish shop is open every day during the summer. Here you can buy really good delicacies and gild your vacation day a little extra.

In the vicinity of Östergarn beach you will also find everything from a gym to action-packed activities such as rock climbing and a team building course. For those who prefer a little more calm activities, there are also lovely jogging trails, tennis courts and a boules court.

Gotland is close to everything. Despite being Sweden's largest island, you can easily get around here. Chalk-white beaches, cool vintage shops, fragrant restaurants and cafés make you feel like you're on a foreign vacation down on the continent. The island is one of Sweden's sunniest places and this is reflected in the islanders who are always hospitable and cheerful.

Gotland's capital Visby is world-famous and attracts visitors from all over the world.

Artifacts dating back to the 7th century AD make this an exciting place with many historical sights to see. The most famous, of course, is the curtain wall with the towers that surround the entire city. The 3.4 km long wall was built in the 13th century and has led to the city being classified as a World Heritage Site. An attraction you should definitely put on your bucket list.

Visby is also known for all its restaurants and its vibrant nightlife.

On the island you will of course also find the well-known rauks that can be found all over Gotland. The most famous is Hoburgsgubben, located on the southern part of the island. Some others worth visiting are Folhammar, Langhammars and Lickershamn.

Good to know

Although Gotland is an island, there are several different ways to get over here. In the summer, you can fly directly to Visby from all the major airports in Sweden. But it is also possible to take the ferry from Nynäshamn, Oskarshamn and Västervik.

As Gotland is a very popular destination, it is important to book your tickets in time. The ferries are often fully booked during the high season. Once on site, you can get around by motorhome, caravan, car or bicycle.
