Description

Nestled under the pines and directly on the shores of the lake, Schlaubetal Camping Schervenzsee feels like a hidden gem of nature — a peaceful, green retreat where you can truly unplug. The campsite covers just over 7 hectares of grassy woodland by the water. Inside this tranquil haven are 88 pitches (some of them parcellated) for tents or motorhomes/caravans; you can choose a sunlit spot or a partially shaded one according to your preference. Many sites offer space for your car right at the pitch — making arrival and set-up hassle-free.

Since 2006, a modern sanitary building has served the campsite: there is a separate mother/child bathroom, accessible bathroom, and shared kitchen. For family campers and children, the site features a large forest playground, with over 20 play structures among the trees — ideal for younger guests (or the young-at-heart).

Water lovers are spoiled: the campsite lies on the banks of Schervenzsee, a roughly 20-hectare lake up to 9 m deep, with excellent water quality and a sandy beach. There’s a floating bathing island with a diving/springboard — a delight for swimmers and kids alike. Boats, rowboats, stand-up paddle boards and water-pedal boats (Wassertreter) are available for rent, so you can enjoy the lake from the water too.

For active days on land, there’s table tennis, volleyball, and plenty of hiking and cycling — the campsite sits right on forested terrain, under pines, with trails launching directly from the grounds.

Guests are welcomed by a dedicated onsite team during the season; they can help arrange cabin or caravan rentals, fishing permits, leisure activities, even transfers from the train station if needed.

Whether you come with a caravan, tent or want to rent a cabin — Schlaubetal Camping Schervenzsee offers a generous, green, and water-rich canvas for a natural getaway.

Nearby

Set deep in the forested embrace of the surrounding woods and within the larger Schlaubetal Nature Park, the campsite is a starting point for countless nature adventures. The Schlaubetal region is known for its wild streams, forest walks, and richly diverse flora and fauna — including about 140 bird species, among them kingfishers, herons and cranes.

From the campsite you can wander through beech, pine and oak woods, follow trails along the stream valleys, hunt for mushrooms (in season), or enjoy peaceful forest hikes.

For cultural or excursion-type outings, a visit to the historic Kloster Neuzelle is a great option — a well-known nearby tourist attraction. And for traditional rural charm, the old mills of the Schlaubetal (such as at the Ragower Mühle) — with their rustic ambiance — are also worth a detour.

If you feel like a longer outing, the area lies within a reasonable drive of larger destinations: day-trips to lively cities like Berlin or even into neighbouring Poland are feasible; the vast forest network extends to other iconic regions like the Spreewald forest. (As the campsite itself describes, such trips are “highly recommended.”)

Whether you crave tranquillity — just you, the lake, the forest and birdsong — or the mix of nature and culture, Schervenzsee is a launching pad for memorable discovery.

Good to know

  • Fishing is possible — the lake is known among fishing fans for its “carp-corner” (“Karpfenecke”) — but note that permits are required (day- or week-tickets).
  • Pets in rental accommodations are not allowed, but if you bring your own tent or caravan/motorhome, pets are welcome (on leash). There is a separate dog-friendly zone by the lake — but pets are not permitted directly on the main beach or sunbathing area.
  • If you plan to barbecue: charcoal grilling on your pitch is allowed — but only if the forest fire danger is at level ≤ 3; at higher risk levels, grilling is only allowed in the dedicated grill hut. (This detail is based on the campsite’s own rules.)
  • There is a bread-roll delivery service, a shop and small grocery — ideal if you want to self-cater.
  • If you don’t have your own tent or caravan: the campsite also offers cabins, caravans or holiday homes / rentals.
