Camping pitch
Skogssjöbadsvägen
59544 Mjölby
Imagine a tranquil lakeside retreat, tucked into the gentle landscape of Skogssjön, just outside Mjölby. That’s what Skogssjöns Camping offers — a warm, quiet escape surrounded by natural beauty. With just 19 pitches in total — 11 reserved for seasonal stays and a handful of daily spots, including some with electricity — the campsite feels intimate and personal.
Open from May through September, this is not a sprawling holiday park but a peaceful, nature-first camping site. The main service house provides modern conveniences: clean showers, toilets, and a cozy kitchenette for meal prep. For longer stays, you can even borrow a washing machine so your gear stays fresh.
Right by the lake’s edge is a practical outdoor area for washing dishes, plus a designated point to empty grey water and chemical toilets — very helpful for motorhome or caravan guests. On arrival, you check in and pay with either a card or Swish — no cash needed.
Set within the protected Skogssjön nature reserve, this camping site isn’t just a place to sleep: it’s a gateway into peaceful wilderness, with the lake shimmering just steps away and forest trails unfolding around you.

Surrounding the campsite, the Skogssjön nature reserve is a rich tapestry of hills, forest, and glacial landforms that invites quiet exploration. A network of hiking trails leads you through the reserve, including a 4.5 km loop around the lake, a 2.5 km woodland trail, and a more challenging 3 km route over old glacial ridges — each offering a different take on the region’s natural history.
By the lake, you can wade in from gently sloping shores, climb onto wooden piers, or use a ramp that makes the area accessible for all. Nearby, there is a sauna with separate facilities for men and women — perfect for relaxing after a hike or swim.
During the summer months, enjoy the charm of a summer café right at the lakeside, where you can sip coffee, snack on light lunch items, or treat yourself to ice cream. Scattered grill spots, benches, and picnic areas invite peaceful evenings by the water, while the surrounding woods and paths are ideal for birdwatching or a contemplative stroll.
For those who like longer adventures, a section of the Östgötaleden trail passes nearby — making this campsite a great jumping-off point for exploring more of the Swedish countryside.
