Description

There are places in Spain that feel like the end of the world in the very best sense — wild, remote, achingly beautiful, and entirely their own. Wecamp Cabo de Gata is one of them. Tucked into a secluded bay within the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, directly beside the golden sands of Cala del Cuervo, this is a glamping destination where the landscape sets the agenda and the silence is a feature, not an absence. Volcanic cliffs, salt marshes, crystal-clear coves and one of the darkest skies in Europe form the backdrop to every single day.

The accommodation at Wecamp Cabo de Gata has been designed to honour that landscape rather than compete with it — domes with transparent roofs for sleeping under the stars, glamping tents for couples and families, cosy wooden cabins, mobile homes and safari-style bell tents, each integrated naturally into their surroundings. On-site you will find a pool, a restaurant terrace with sea views, a kids club and a coworking area. On weekend evenings, live music drifts across the terrace as the sun drops behind the hills. It is the kind of place that is genuinely difficult to leave.

The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is one of the most extraordinary protected landscapes on the entire Iberian Peninsula — a volcanic coastline of astonishing variety, where black rock beaches, pale dunes, crystalline coves and salt lagoons follow one after another in rapid, breathtaking succession. Cala del Cuervo is directly on the doorstep; the Las Sirenas reef and the iconic Cabo de Gata lighthouse are a short drive away. The underwater cave of Cueva de las Palomas rewards snorkellers and divers with some of the clearest water and richest marine floors on Spain's Mediterranean coast.

The fishing village of Las Negras, just 1.5 km away, offers a handful of authentic restaurants, a local beach bar, and the kind of unhurried atmosphere that feels increasingly rare. Inland, the villages of Níjar, Rodalquilar and San José each reward a leisurely half-day. The park's hiking trails — including the classic La Molata route — can be explored on foot, by bike or by 4x4, and the wecamp team organises guided stargazing sessions on clear nights, taking full advantage of the area's Starlight Reserve status.

Good to know

Wecamp Cabo de Gata is open all year round. The campsite holds Biosphere certification and SleepStar certification for sleep quality. The wecamp app is recommended for activity bookings, restaurant reservations and the downloadable local guide. Pets are welcome in selected accommodations only — the Bell Tent+ does not permit pets. The restaurant terrace serves traditional Andalusian cuisine and hosts live music performances on weekend evenings. A coworking space is available on site. The road into Las Negras and Cala del Cuervo is narrow and winding — large motorhomes should check access before arrival. The cancellation policy follows the standard Wecamp General Contract Terms — free cancellation up to 12:00 noon on the deadline date shown at booking; late cancellation incurs a one-night charge; no refund for no-shows or early departures.
