Camping pitch
Am weiß Stein 29
53940 Hellenthal
If you’re longing for a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, Wohnmobilhafen Am Weißer Stein is your ideal getaway. Nestled at “Hellenthal-Udenbreth”, this motorhome and caravan site lies in the idyllic hills of Udenbreth near Hellenthal — open all year.
There are about 30 motorhome pitches and 20 tent pitches, laid out on gentle gravel-lawn terrain, and you can choose spots with or without electricity. Caravans are just as welcome, and for tent-lovers there’s a roomy tent area set amidst forest air.
You’ll find a simple on-site kiosk / bread-roll service, great for a relaxed breakfast or a quick snack without leaving the site. Water and waste disposal facilities sit right at the entrance, keeping servicing easy and convenient. Toilet facilities are available (with a small daily fee), though there is no shower service — perfect for travelers happy with the basics.
Families and active guests will enjoy access to a playground, sports field and climbing/boulder wall, positioned just next to the pitches and free to use. For cozy evenings under the stars, you can borrow a fire bowl free of charge (wood is inexpensive), and there’s even a covered barbecue area for communal grilling.
At night, the low light pollution transforms the site into a magical stargazing spot — truly a quiet haven in harmony with nature. As a special treat, the adjacent weather and climate park invites you to explore meteorology and environmental science in an engaging exhibition hall, adding a unique educational dimension to your stay.

The campsite sits on the scenic slopes of Weißer Stein, the highest peak of the Nordrhein-Westphalian Eifel and just steps away from the Belgian border. This prime location opens up a world of hiking trails, forest walks, and moorland explorations — ideal for both gentle nature strolls and more challenging treks.
Cycling enthusiasts will appreciate the many local bike routes, ranging from family-friendly rides to more demanding routes through peaceful valleys and wooded landscapes. In winter, the region becomes a wonderland for snow sports: slopes for skiing and sledding, cross-country ski trails, and winter hiking paths await those craving snowy adventures.
Nature and wildlife fans will enjoy a visit to the nearby wildlife park, where animals roam freely and remarkable bird-of-prey shows take place — a delight especially for families. History buffs and day-trippers can discover local heritage in old border fortifications, mining museums, and rustic castle ruins nearby, adding variety and depth to your holiday.
For a change of pace, just across the border in Belgium you’ll find charming villages with cozy cafés, weekend markets and small local shops — perfect for shopping, enjoying regional treats, or simply kicking back with a cup of coffee.
Expect a straightforward, no-frills camping experience that values nature and simplicity. If you opt for electricity, a small supplement applies. Water and waste disposal are easy to manage onsite.
Sanitary facilities include toilets (small fee per use), but no showers, so plan accordingly. Bring your own supplies or enjoy a relaxed breakfast from the on-site kiosk — a restful start before setting off on the trails.
The pitches are mostly open and without shade, so in summer a sun awning or shade solution is a good idea. Pets are welcome, so feel free to bring your dog, cat or even smaller companions.
Booking is flexible — you can reserve online or simply show up, depending on the season and availability. The campsite also occasionally hosts local events, such as a cozy Christmas market in November — a lovely opportunity to mingle, enjoy regional food, and feel part of the local spirit.
